NEC launches World’s First contactless Hybrid Finger Scanner

NEC Corporation announced the launch of the world’s first fingerprint scanner, which simultaneously acquire fingerprint and finger vein characteristics without physical contact.
The device codenamed (HS100-10)  has dimensions of 52(W)×89(D)×48(H)mm and weighs less than 90g, it has USB2.0 interface which allows users to connect it with PC/laptops in order to logon to its operating system.  NEC says that the new hybrid scanner offers better security, due to its dual scan method. Moreover, since scanner is contactless, it is robust against sweaty fingers, which is a problem on the conventional contact-based fingerprint authentication devices.
